Slide:ology, 'The art and science of creating great presentations' review by Michelle Williams

It is hardly surprising that a book written by a designer is filled with graphics. However, Slide:ology is more than just a well laid out book. Reading Slide:ology is like attending a professionally produced presentation. And the key messages sink in.

Slide:ology aims to become an essential desktop reference for those who must produce high quality professional presentation material. It starts from the basics and builds through the key design techniques required for a successful presentation. The section on creating diagrams is particularly useful as it provides building blocks to produce your own diagrams. Through out the book there are informative case studies. They showing the theories in action and provide motivation if you are struggling with a presentation.

Although at times the book is aimed at quite a basic level it is a delight to read. I put the techniques to use in a recent presentation and the audience was certainly impressed. So if you struggle with presentations then this book is essential reading. If, like me, you think your presentations are actually quite good, then it is time to take them to the next level.
